Christmas Coffee

A mini festive outing with the girls for Festive drinks... not the alcoholic type, but the yummy, chocolatey, cinnamony type!

Outfit of the night

My New Trench, which I am in love with: TKMAXX £30

I have the most beautiful leather gloves, given to me on my 21st from karen Millen. They are my absolute fave, but I'm always worried I will mess them up. I decided to wear them this evening, as they look lovely with my coat, along with my oversized GUESS bag!

My amazing caramel and chocolate flake hot chocolate!!! Calorific, but delish!

Dream Creams

I think we can safely say we Winter is here. Its nearly minus degrees outside and I am literally freezing all the time. Luckily I can wrap up in dozens of woollen layers, but what about my skin? My face, hands and lips become very dry and sore this time of year, which is never a great look, especially with the party season right round the corner. I don't know what it is, but as soon as we bye to the sun, I say bye to my lovely soft skin. Well this year, I have been extremely prepared and have invested in some key cosmetics to keep my skin glowing throughout December!

My Lips
There are some amazing products out there for your lips, some with a hefty price tag, but my remedy is pretty simple.
I use an exfoliater twice a week to get rid of any excess dry parts. I usually do it while chilling in the bath, so I can leave the scrub on for 5/10 minutes after too. The one I use is from Lush. It costs £5.50, but it literally lasts all year. Plus if you return your 5 pots, you get a free product. I buy the bubblegum flavour, as it's so sweet and I can't resist licking and eating some of it. I love Lush products as it's fresh, natural ingredients.

 Lip Scrub .... £5.50

                   Claudia Stevens Lip repair... £1.50

As well as using a lip scrub, I try and use a lip balm or moisture stick everyday. My favourite is the Nivea lip care pearly shine. Its £2.45 and really keeps my lips moist. It has a slight pink shine, so when applied it looks like a dusky pink lipstick! But sometimes, I want to wear a strong lippy for work, in which case, I make sure I use a lip cream over night to keep my lips moist like Claudia Stevens overnight lip repair. This is £5.99, but I get mine from Fragrance Direct for £1.50

My Face
When it comes to skin routines, we are bombarded with products. Cleansing, toning, moisturising, day cream night cream, ointments, gels, face masks, eye creams etc... but if we're honest No woman uses them all. But in Winter, our faces are forced to endure, bitter cold wind, freezing torrential down pours and icy chills. If your going to use one thing in winter, make sure it's a good product that keeps your skin moisturised, whether it an oil based ointment or a thick cream.

                               Simple... £2.50

I use simple moisturiser daily and then three times a week I use a moisture serum, which is literally fantastic. It's from The Body Shop at £11, but you only need the size of a pea amount, so it will last a long time. Obviously try and ex foliate once a week, to get rid of any dry flaky skin, but my advice... invest in a moisture full serum! it really works a treat. My skin has never been so soft. It also helps if you wear a foundation that contains minerals and works with the oils in your skin, not dry it out. I use Mac liquid fluid and I'll never go back.

My Hands
I think we tend to forget about our hands. We might moisturise our body and exfoliate, as we all know it helps with the fake tan, but our hands? We use them everyday for everything. They need a bit of TLC in Winter. Obviously if the weather is awful, I wear gloves to protect my hands (and because I'm freezing), but at work I don't and when I pop out or drive, I don't. The trick is to keep a little tub of cream with you in your bag. I use O'keeffes working hand cream at £5.99. I think it is supposed to be for people who work hard with their hands, not necessarily in an office, but its moisture rich and works a treat!

OK, so I hope that's given you a bit of extra beauty knowledge and try these products. They're really good!!!!

The perfect advent calender!

Another 2 weeks and we can get out our Christmas calendar's, whether it be pieces of moulded chocolate, candy and sweets or something more?
I've hunted high and low to bring you the every girls ultimate Christmas calendar and to be honest, they're all the same, nail varnish, lipstick, creams and cost an absolute fortune. Are you really going to spend £50+ on a calendar when you don't even know if you like the contents.
I thought to myself, what if you could make your own calendar? Then fill each compartment with something nice for yourself. It's also a great gift for someone or for children in your family. Here are my favourite that I have found!

I think it's much nicer if you can design and personalise your calendars. They can be part of the Christmas decorations. They are especially lovely if you have young children and it can be a family activity every evening. If the calendar is for yourself and you know what's gonna be in each little compartment, buy a few bits really early in advance or spread throughout the year or get someone else to put the little "surprises" in each compartment, so then you don't know which pressie is in which parcel.

i'm going to have a go at making my own this year, something rustic and traditional, watch out for the blog about it!

Miss Baker

As my devout followers will know, I occasionally do a little bit of baking here and there and blog about the results. This week, I've been busy making a 30th Birthday cake. The brief: beer, united football club, biking and Irish. So, here's the cake I came up with. It's quite simple, but I think it works!

The cake turned out quite well. I had a bit of a mare with bike, as the icing just wouldn't dry, so I had to change the layout slightly. But the client absolutly loved and I heard through the grape vine, the Birthday Boy was chuffed to bits with it too.
Great result!

Just dropped down in London town!

It's just been Halloween and this year, I decided to take a trip down to London to see my best friend that I used to go to uni with! I don't get to see her that often, so when I do, we make the most of it.
Me and my little Nommy back at University
This time, Naomi had so many plans for us, capturing every aspect of Halloween and bonfire night, wrapped into one glorious weekend. On the first night, we decorated her flat with pumpkin bunting, glow in the dark balloons, ghost tinsel, pumpkins and cakes.

Naomi had even made little "eye ball" cherries to put in our bloody drink (cranberry), as well as an amazing skull cake and glass cupcakes.

After decorating and munching, we began to look towards the night ahead. We were heading up to North London to a Halloween night at EGG! Despite the name, the club was really cool and played house music, with an edgy vibe to the place.
Needless to say we got in at 5am!

The next morning after croissants and tea in bed, while watching a few sneaky SATC episodes, we headed to central London for a quick look round Selfridges. The Christmas lights and trees were up, along with Christmassy feel visuals in the window. We had a quick wander around the perfume, spraying ourselves with different scents, before we stopped at Lola's for coffee and cake! Really cute with an American diner kind of feel! Not too expensive either!

We headed back to St Johns Wood, (where she lives) and quickly got ready for the evening we had ahead of us. We were all off to Ally pally for fireworks, fun and food.
It was amazing! Freezing, but amazing! We went ice skating, ate hog roasts, burgers and fries, drank hot chocolate with extra cream and mallows and snacked on churros with dippy chocolate.
The fireworks were literally the best I have ever seen. It might sound sad, but I got all dewy eyed at the finale. The music blared, baby you're a firework by Katy Perry, while thousands of people sung along, while there explosions of colour dancing across the nigh sky, while looking out onto the lights of London. It really was fantastic to be there.

definitely recommend you all go next year!

New Jewellery

One of my friends is off down under and I wanted to get her a little something to say goodbye! A little bird told me that she loves dangly pendant type necklaces so the hunt began. I looked everywhere, but most of the necklaces about are chunky chains and colourful collars. All beautiful, but not what I was after. After visiting every high street store available, I wondered into Forever21 and wish I had gone there first. They're jewellery section looked beautiful. There was a whole wall full od dangly, tassely long pendants. I resisted the urge to walk along stroking each necklace with my fingers.
I ended up buying two really simple, but beautiful pendant chain necklaces. I actually bough three, as I bought myself one too ;)! Couldn't resist!

Crystal Pendant: £6.65
Feather chain necklace: £3.40
I bought the crystal pendant for myself. I've wanted a crystal necklace for a while, but I've never found one that I liked enough to spend a lot of money on, as most places charge quite a bit of money for one. This is perfect, It's priced right and looks brilliant. The crystal is clear, so you can literally wear with anything! I can't wait to wear mine! Look out for a blog post soon on how I will wear it.

Baby you're a firework

Remember remember the 5th of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot
We season no reason
why the gunpowder treason
should ever be forgot!

That's right, it was bonfire night last night. I hope everyone had an amazing night, as well as being sensible! Did you see the roads this morning? They were smoky and foggy, left from last nights fireworks! The weather held off as well, which was nice, so we could all enjoy the fireworks from in the garden instead of pressed against the windows in the house.

My bonfire night was as usual, bonfire buffet, making a guy, fireworks, burning the guy and a few drinks while socialising with my family.

The bottom left picture is me playing with my sparkler. It didn't come out too well the photo, which is a shame, as my sparkler turned different colours... pink, green and then yellow (which I was very excited about).

The fireworks.... a little fuzzy, but thought I would post on anyway!
